Frederick Alschuler is a Trial Lawyer.......
Fred understands that any legal proceeding, civil or criminal, is frightening. The stakes are high. A client’s life, liberty, or property is at stake. The process is unknown. The courtroom is an intimidating place. If Fred accepts your case, you will not be alone in your fight.
Fred has been able to establish that an insurance company manufactured false evidence accusing the client of insurance fraud in order to avoid payment of the client’s claim of nearly a half million dollars. In the end, at a confidential settlement the insurance company paid the client’s claim plus a significant additional amount for their dishonesty dishonesty. Fred achieved this result by a painstaking review of 10,000 pages of documents obtained from the insurance company forced through a court order.
Practice Areas
Fred cares about his clients. He fights hard for justice to be done.
- He made law before the California Supreme Court, protecting a client’s right to the criminal defense attorney of his choice.
- He developed a new defense to the death penalty – the “Execution Ritual” defense.
- In one case, Fred’s client was charged with eleven murders. The client was convicted of two. Fred believed in his client’s innocence. In 2010, after having stood with his client for 30 years, the guilty verdict against Fred’s client was overturned and reversed by the United States Court of Appeals. The Court found that his client had been convicted as a result of the prosecution’s use of perjured testimony and suppression of evidence. Two years later, in 2012, the United States Supreme Court upheld the Court of Appeals decision reversing the conviction.
Fred is loyal to and fights for his clients. If Fred accepts your case, he will not give up. He will protect your life, your freedom, and your assets. Fred will always talk with you and explain the legal process to you as your case progresses. If Fred accepts your case, he will stand with you – you will never face the process alone.
He also believes that there is no substitute for hard work and preparation. He works cases in great depth and detail. He believes that cases should be prepared as if they are going to be tried to a jury. If you want to go to trial, and if trial is otherwise appropriate and advisable, your case will be tried to a jury.
In 1971, Fred graduated UCLA and was awarded a degree in philosophy, Summa Cum Laude and with highest departmental honors. Mr. Alschuler joined Phi Betta Kappa, an academic honor extended to only one percent of all college graduates.
In 1975, Fred received his Juris Doctor degree from UCLA School of Law. He was admitted to the practice of law in 1976 and has been a civil and criminal trial attorney since.
Fred is a proud graduate of the Trial Lawyer’s College school of civil and criminal trial advocacy. He is also a graduate of the Trial Lawyer’s College death penalty and criminal law trial advocacy program. The Trial Lawyer’s College was founded by the legendary trial attorney, Gerry Spence. Only about 100 attorneys, nationwide, are invited to the College each year.
Fred is a founding member of the professional association, Attorneys for Truth and Justice, P.A. Mr. Alschuler can call upon the relationships built over a lifetime to refer, confer, consult, and co-counsel with other attorneys having particular expertise in many practice areas.
Fred was born and raised in Los Angeles. He is the proud father of three daughters and one son.
